Moderate to Strenuous

Overview:
The Highline Trails offers amazing scenery perched at the top of Logan Pass. Park at the Logan Pass Visitor Center or take one of the National Park buses. The first quarter mile is along a six-foot wide cliff with drops of a hundred feet. A cable is provided as a handrail. The trail travels just below the ridge top of the Garden Wall for most of the trail. This is a well known escarpment with bright green foliage and many wildflowers. This is a great place to see mountain goats in the morning. The trail ascends up several switchbacks reaching the highpoint of 7,025 ft at Haystack Pass. This is a great point to turn around for the casual hiker. More adventurous hikers can continue ahead on the Highline Loop Trail which will reach the Going-to-the-Sun Road at 11.9 miles. At 7.6 miles, hikers will reach the Granite Park Chalet, one of the Parks unique backcountry inns. A second vehicle or a short walk downhill to the Park Service bus stop will return you to the Logan Pass Visitor Center. This is one of the most scenic hikes in Glacier National Park. The trail also connects to the Swiftcurrent Pass trail making numerous side trips and alternate destinations possible.
